What is PABX?
A business telephone system is any of a range of a multiline telephone systems typically used in business environments, encompassing systems ranging from small key systems to large scale private branch. A business telephone system differs from simply using a telephone with multiple lines in that the lines used are accessible from multiple telephones, or "stations" in the system, and that such a system often provides additional features related to call handling. Business telephone systems are often broadly classified into "key systems", "hybrid systems", and "private branch exchanges".
A key system was originally distinguished from a private branch exchange (PBX) in that it allowed the station user to see and control the calls directly, manually, using lighted line buttons, while a private branch exchange operated in a manner similar to the public telephone system, in the calls were routed to the correct destination by being dialed directly. Technologically, private branch exchanges share lineage with central office telephone systems, and in larger or more complex systems, may rival a central office in capacity and features.
Some clients might feel a little confused between Intercom and PABX since the main concept is the same only PABX comes with the concept of dealing with public telephone lines while still connecting internal phone calls together free of charge similar to a regular Intercom system.
A PABX system can be as simple as a 2 publines and 4 internal extensions for small offices and homes while for enterprises it can be used with the IP Telephony solutions that can offer a full ethernet based telephone system that can manage up to 1000s of extensions and public lines.
While on the other hand we provide Intercom system which is mainly categorized into conventional or digital, and the main different between both is that conventional has a limitation of distance and number of stations that it can handle due to the analogue connectivity while the digital is communicating on RS485 bus that can travel with the signal up to 1200 meters and supporting more than 255 stations on a single bus.
